From the Inside Out – Book Review

This memoire presents an insightful glimpse into the life of the author – Karen Lynn Suffern, and the difficult journey she has experienced thus far. It is a must read for all those who struggle with mental and physical trauma, who deal with issues and difficulties in life that put them down, drowning them into a feeling of being worthless.

Suffern has skillfully narrated her experience of dealing with the struggle of being severely obese, her depression and mental trauma, and how she found a way to emerge from the pit of anxiety and worthlessness that surrounded her entire life.

From suicidal attempts, to psychiatric ward experiences, this book takes its readers on a quick journey of Suffern’s life – from self inflicting pain, to eating disorders, to feeling like a misfit pretty much everywhere she went.

From the Inside Out takes you on an emotional rollercoaster with highs and lows, highlighting the vicious circle of never ending emotional unrest and finally discovering the light at the end of the tunnel.

In the end, it all comes down to perspective, facing our fears, and fighting for a life where we can bring ourselves to see the brighter side of things.

We can bring a positive change in our lives only when we learn to follow the path of working from the inside out! After all, we are nothing if we are broken on the inside.
