GOD FATHER’S DAY SIGNATURE COCKTAIL

MC      Welcome home to Sweetwater, Dr. Barnes. The community is lucky having such a skilled surgeon return to live here permanently. I understand you were born and raised on a small farm in the area. Can you tell us why you chose to return and reside here permanently?

CLAY Absolutely and thank you for the warm welcome. Sweetwater townsfolk have been extremely generous and heartwarmingly welcoming. I had opportunity to work in Denver, Boston, Chicago and Alaska; but Sweetwater feels like home. I couldn’t resist the offer to work here.

MC      I understand you’ve had difficulty resisting more than just the charming townspeople. I hear there’s a little filly involved in your decision.

CLAY (laughter) It seems my love affair with the charming deputy, Jaiden Coldwater, has become public knowledge. What male in his right mind could resist such an amazing woman?

MC      Gotta hand it to you there. Our little town hero is well loved by all in Sweetwater. I hear you’re inseparable.

CLAY Indeed. We’re together as much as our demanding professions allow.

MC      How did you meet?

CLAY She thought I was a vandal and came to arrest me.

(more laughter)

MC      Sorry to hear you had more than Jaiden to welcome you home. I heard a newscast about a body.

CLAY Yes, I discovered the body of a murdered local businessman.

MC      That’s too bad. Did the investigation pose a problem for your relationship with the deputy?

CLAY No, other than increasing Jaiden’s workload. Between her, Sheriff Wyatt Gordon, Deputy Leo Sanders and the rest of Wyatt’s crack team, I knew they’d find the killer.

MC      Were you surprised who the culprit was?

CLAY I’d say everyone involved was shocked. I’m glad it’s over and things are back to normal. I feel much safer when the worst call Jaiden has to go out on is when someone’s cows break a fence down and they wander onto the highway.

MC      So you hale from Sweetwater originally. I can’t find much about your parents.

CLAY (with a shrug and twitch of his brow) And you won’t. My parents were extremely private folks. They stayed to themselves and worked mostly at home.

MC      What can you tell us about them?

CLAY (with a sigh) Not much. They loved me. I loved them. They did the best they could. What can anyone say about their parents? Mostly they remain a complete mystery. I appreciate your time today. Thank you for the warm welcome, but I must be going now. (Were his hands shaking?)
